As one volunteer of the Sunshine in Your Heart Project of the Red Cross Society of China, I went to the Central University for Nationalities (CUN) to volunteer on a sunny Thursday afternoon. At the moment of departure, a sense of sanctity and solemnity came over me, making me feel like an angel with a halo, buoyant and cheerful.
This time, it was an activity held by the Sunshine in Your Heart Project in CUN, the aim of which to give a campus lecture on YTL life education and to make an educational film. In this activity, my workload was quite low, all I had to do was record the length of the Professor’s PPT’s. However, the recording the data was extremely important film editing, what’s more, I felt fortunate to have the opportunity to listen along with the students of CUN to the lecture, the themes of which were Stress Alleviation and Conflict Resolution. After attending the lecture, it was not an exaggeration for me to state I felt “Greatly Enlightened”. From the lecture, I learnt the plausible way of resolving a conflict, as well as the right and wrong ways of alleviating stress. It is greatly rewarding that through volunteer work, we can gain so much knowledge.
I am a student at Beijing Chinese Medicine University and I took a vow before entering the school. The dedicated spirit of a volunteer means everything to me. As medical students, we must shoulder the responsibility of saving the masses from illness and death, harbouring benevolence and compassion, with this spirit of dedication.I still cannot make sense of the meaning of benevolent practice and volunteer spirit, and I still feel insignificant at this grand medical school, and in the team of volunteers. However, someday I will face the challenge of illness and sufferings, and to that end, it empowers me to bolster up my spirit and work steadfastly for a brilliant tomorrow.
